Story by AKI and Pawpaw NOBODY IS A MISTAKE Take us Chinedu And Osita aka Aki And Paw paw for example. During our school days starting from primary to higher institution Most people looked at us as worthless beings because of our look/statue, small and short. Even those we were better than in terms of brain never took us as anything. Some used to say to our faces "Even you have first class nobody will employ you little rats to work in his office" They forget that God does think the way humans do. Look at us today, we can enter where those tall and huge people can not enter, We dine with Kings and Queens, Our present makes people happy, we now offer jobs to those who never saw something good in us. Those who looked down on US now look up to US. The Lord is good, all the time. If we could make it you too can make it. Don'

Image
file: protesting students Students under the aegis of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, yesterday, protested the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, calling on the Federal Government to accede to the demands of the union. The students who have had enough of the strike also threatened to shut down activities in the private universities in the country should the crisis linger on. Displaying several placards with various inscriptions, the students lampooned the Federal Government for its failure to honour the agreement it entered into with ASUU since 2009. Asafon Sunday, Director of Action and Mobilisation NANS, South–West, who spoke on behalf of the students claimed between 2000 and 2011 the Nigerian government earned about N48.48 trillion from the sale of oil alone, against N3.10 trillion earned between 1979 and 1999. ASUU to FG: N92 billion Is a Debt, Not a New Demand

Image
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on August 22, 2013, Thursday, described as highly embarrassing, the statement credited to the Coordinating Minister of the economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The statement said that the lecturers were making a fresh demand from the Federal Government. Federal Government has to pay, if it has to show signs of a responsible and honourable government.” The ASUU coordinator also expressed shock at the insincerity and antics of the government, saying the Minister’s pronouncement was a deliberate and calculated attempt to blackmail ASUU, confuse the public and reduce ASUU’s patriotic cause to a mere payment of allowances. According to Dr. Abubakar, the Minister’s comment is an indication that government had no intention of honouring the agreement, saying “how could the minister have made the claim of no money to honour the agreement when the finance ministry was represented throughout the negotiations i...

ASUU strike: Federal Government’s meeting with ASUU lecturers ends in deadlock again

The meeting between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government, has once again ended in a stalemate. Governor Gabriel Suswam announced at the end of the closed-door meeting which lasted for about three hours, that N100billion will be disbursed by September 1, to tackle infrastructure deficit in the country’s universities. The FG also approved N30billion which will go to the university council, as against the initial N92billion which ASUU demanded to resolve the issue of earned allowances. Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, told media men that the money is meant to clear off the backlog, but would need to verify ASUU’s claims. The president of ASUU, Professor Nasir Faggae, however made it clear that the FG’s intervention, is like renegotiating the 2009 agreement, which the Union will not accept.
